Perhaps to "celebrate" Mahler's anniversary in 2011, Archipel released a live recording of M5 played by the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Leipzig under Kempe's baton (recorded in Leipzig on 3 November 1948).

There are cuts in the Scherzo (check what happens around minute 6.50: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwH74z4588E) and the Finale (check what happens around minute 8.00: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNItr0ELpp0), not anyway comparable to the butchery perpetrated by Scherchen in M5 & M6.

What I found truly incredible (and shameful) is that some passages have been slightly rewritten. For example, the recapitulation of the main theme of the Adagietto has been rewritten to make it match the beginning of the movement. If you do not believe me, you can believe to your ears: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nIrrxIwlrhU (check around minute 6.30).

The responsible of this tampered and cut version is Gerhart Wiesenhütter, a German conductor and organist (1912-1978).
