The KDFC broadcast of Esa-Pekka Salonen's recent Mahler 3 in San Francisco will be broadcast - via streaming (or over the air) - on Sunday, July 14 at 7pm Pacific Time. This should be really good.

I don't know if any of you listened, but I thought it was fantastic! - just as good or even better than his L.A. recording of M3. Sadly, KDFC broadcast tapes constrict the dynamic range a bit (or more than a bit), but it still sounded just wonderful. This was among the best Mahler 3 performances I've ever heard. And yes, Salonen doubled the last five timpani strokes in the symphony with bass drum.
