I don't think the data size of the discs has anything to do with your computers' inability to read them.  I've had no problems with reading/ripping long CDs (75+ minutes) on my various Macs.  It sounds like the discs themselves might be defective since they don't seem to be able to be read on your 3 computer CD drives.  Do they play without problems in a CD player?

Yes, it does play pretty well with normal CD player, even with the iTunes - direct CD playing before ripping.
I think there's some kind of threshold at 78 or 79 minutes. All other discs with less than 78 minutes from the same Bernstein-Mahler box set ripped well.

Well I guess I should return it and ask for the replacement.
