This recording replaced my Karajan long ago. It seems to me that Schoenberg took the emotions of this work to peak elevations he himself didn't know how to supersede without a little lunacy, hence his next opus.

This is a very good disc. The performance of the "Five Pieces" is quite good - every bit as good as the old mono one that the CSO made with Kubelik in the '50s.
