Das Lied von der Erde, Munich Nov. 20, 1911

Do not forget the 100 year jubilee. On Sunday it's 100 years since the first public performance of "Das Lied von der Erde" was given  in Munich, Germany with Bruno Walter conducting and sung by Sara Cahier and William Miller.

I will be celebrating by listening to at least one recording, most likely Klemperer/Ludwig/Wunderlich. Kubelik/Baker/Kmentt (recorded in Munich), or Walter/Ferrier/Patzak (the same conductor as the world premiere), or maybe all of them.

A pleasure to hear the Ferrier/Patzak/Walter recording which is lovely. I wonder if the performance [or Walter's other recordings of it] have been played today in commemoration and celebration.

I like LE lots more now.

Yes it has, Ivor. I also played the Baker/Kmentt/Kubelik and a bunch of Der Abschied. I simply love Das Lied, can't get enough of it in the long run. Presently I've had enough for a week or two.
