Keith Lockhart Conducts Mahler 3
« on: November 27, 2011, 08:58:08 AM »
Here's a performance of Mahler 3 by an unlikely combination of forces: Keith Lockhart (of the Boston Pops) conducting the Brevard (NC) Music Center Orchestra in July of 2011. Internet stream courtesy WGBH Boston. The symphony begins at 14:58. Make of it what you will.

Not bad, all things considered. I've heard significantly worse!

Lockhart is a pretty good conductor, and I can't see how you could go too far wrong when most of the players are either members of the BSO, or are 'understudy-s' of those players.

But this isn't the Boston Pops; it's the Brevard (NC) Music Center Orchestra, a summer music camp orchestra made up of aspiring young musicians.
