The Karajan Mahler Fifth sounds even better than the recent SHM-SACD that Universal Japan issued of his Mahler Sixth. Perhaps because the 5th was done earlier, in the Jesus Christ Kirche rather than Philharmonie. Regardless, with both discs, I could not be more pleased with the sonics, significant improvement from the last DG Originals CD versions.
