Overall I think Colin Davis' Mahler is underrated.  His Das Lied and Mahler 4 are both much better than their reputation in my opinion.  (Though I have yet to hear the M8)

I agree. Jessye Norman is fabulous on his "DLvdE". The thing that keeps from being in the 'pantheon' to top "Das Lied" recordings is that Vickers was way over the hill. His M4 is quite good, and reminds me a bit of Daniele Gatti's.
