Mahler concert database
« on: March 14, 2015, 08:33:27 AM »
I just found this incredible listing of WORLDWIDE Bruckner concerts.  It appears to be maintained manually, check it out, looks like a lot of work to maintain.

Is there something like this for Mahler?

It's 2015, you figure there must be something like this out there!!

Yes, there is.  I got this from a link over at the Facebook Mahler group.  Sorry, I don't know Dutch, and you'll have to play around with it to understand how it works:

The Bruckner website contains info about upcoming Bruckner concerts whereas the Mahler concert archive lets you look up Mahler historic concert dates. (by country, conductor, city, etc...)

Here it is...Mahler in the US for the 2015/2016 concert season. I've only included the larger orchestras. No community, college, or non-professional groups. Also, only groups that had their seasons listed. If there are omissions, let me know.

It is indeed possible to hear all of the symphonies again next season. What's really special is the Dallas performance of Das klagende Lied, although I don't think they're doing the Waldmarchen. The 7th I can only find once - last year it seemed everyone was doing it. So if you're motivated, have the time and the wallet, go for it! For people like me who love the instrumental symphonies Utah is the place to be.

I did not include any 2015 summer concert festivals for a good reason: most of them are outdoors and most of those use electronic amplification. Why? If I want to listen to speakers I'll stay home, pour some Maker's Mark and crank up the stereo. To hear the Mahler palette requires a good hall. Grand Tetons has a wonderful hall, and they're doing DLVDE this summer!
