A friend of mine who attends National Symphony concerts feels that Noseda was a good choice for music director of the National Symphony.  I personally, have never seen him conduct, though I've listened to various non-Mahler CDs by him and found them pretty decent.  But my favorite times for Mahler with the NSO were during the Dorati years, and a M6 I heard him conduct was the best Mahler performance I ever heard to come from him.

The broadcast tape of Dorati doing M6 in Chicago is legendary. I've never heard it.

During Dorati's Washington years, I was able to hear him conduct all Mahler symphonies, except M7 and M8.  I seem to recall hearing him conduct the M10 Adagio, though I can't recall exactly for sure.
