Presto Classical just named Ádám Fischer “Conductor of the Year” for 2019, mentioning his ongoing Mahler cycle (“going from strength to strength”) and his Beethoven cycle. Good for him. I really like him too. He’s such a humble and intelligent conductor. When I watch live concert videos on YouTube, the piece ends and he gets off the podium to stand at height with the orchestra members as the audience applauds. His CD liner notes are also as personal as they are intellectual.
