Vanksa/MO M3 now up at Your Classical
« on: November 14, 2022, 06:11:20 PM »
Here it is. Nobody is going to mistake this for the more muscular approach of Honeck/Pittsburg, or the crazed, kaleidoscopic approach of Gariel Feltz. Faster portions of the first and third movements are surprisingly on the slow side. But it is all beautifully done and very detailed. Please keep in mind that this mix is from the broadcast mikes, and will have nothing to do with how the BIS mix-down will eventually sound. Also, you can tell that they turned the recording level down at louder moments - that blunts some of the impact. The concluding brass chorale ought to be pretty darn impressive.

Many thanks, Barry!

Happily, from what I am hearing in the 1st movt. it is an interesting and insightful performance that says new things about the score. The amount of myriad details pouring into my ears is amazing!

I wonder if the whole performance (over 100 min.) will fit onto a single disc this time.

I rather doubt that will happen.
