Wow, the start of the finale sounds promising. Noseda recorded M7 with the BBC Phil. from Manchester's Bridgewater Hall. It came with an edition of the BBC Magazine, and it's really good.

These do sound pretty good. I like some of Noseda's previous Shostakovich recordings with the LSO, and I've been wanting to hear him do more Mahler. He conducted the 2nd at Verbier Festival ― I think it was ― a few years ago and it was not good; the overall timing was about 71 minutes, putting even Kubelik's quick tempi to shame. I caught the performance on a live stream.

Yeah, I don't think his Italian based recordings of M2 or M9 are going to light a fire under anyone but locals (as a souvenir). On the other hand, the M7 and M10/Cooke III (Chandos) that he did in Manchester are really quite good. I like that M10 quite a bit. It'll be interesting to here this on Spotify. I believe he has an M8 scheduled for D.C., so maybe they'll make a recording of that.

What a surprise! As of today, the whole recording is up on Apple Music. I'm not sure about other platforms, I haven't checked yet. I'll give it a listen sometime today.

Two other Mahler 7 recordings just came out too: there's Jaap van Zweden conducting the Seoul Philharmonic which is being described on Presto as a continuation of a cycle, and I'm seeing a new one on Apple Music from Andrea Battistoni conducting the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. I don't see the latter listing on Presto yet, and I'm not sure if it's on Spotify.
