information on Abbado M3?
« on: September 27, 2008, 07:08:54 PM »
I just got word today from Amazon that my pre-order for the Abbado M3 has been cancelled because Amazon can't supply it.  This is rather unusual.  Has anyone heard any rumors of an explanation?

That is very strange. It is distributed by Naxos and so should be readily available. Try ordering through Arkivmusic.com. They work directly with the distributors, who ship to you directly. So if they have it, then it should really exist. Also, I have noted sometimes with Amazon.com that they take pre-orders then cancel them when the title is actually released. I must be some glitch in their software--it happened with one of my books.

My guess is that Amazon simply under ordered it, and too many people want it now. I'm sure it wouldn't take very long for Amazon to receive their reorder from Naxos.

This DVD is available for $19.99 at NaxosDirect.com. I just ordered it and there was no indication that there would be a delay in providing it.

...speaking of books, I am looking forward to reading a book on the music of Brahms.  Do you know if anyone is close to publishing one?   ;)

This is not a new book on Brahms, but it has received excellent reviews:

Johannes Brahms: A Biography by Jan Swafford

I'll keep alert to any new Brahms biographies that may appear.
