Bernstein M1 SACD?
« on: November 12, 2008, 12:25:35 AM »
I'm wondering if anyone here has heard Bernstein's NY M1 on SACD - NOT the new Japanese version, but the one released nine years ago.

Here's a link:

Does anyone know how it compares to the newish remastered version on regular CD?

I'm not certain about a newly remastered CD.  I have this stereo-only SACD and think that it sounds great.  Most of Sony's original SACD releases of Lennie or Bruno Walter were vast improvements over previous CD incarnations.  However, the Szell SACD's were not quite the sonic equal.  A further note, many of these original SACD's were not hybrids (no CD layer).

I did not purchase the more recent Japanese multi-channel SACD of Lennie's M1.
