One of my favorite conductors, and his Mahler set contains some outstanding performances. M2 with Saito Kinen is my favorite.

Some people go on and on about Solti/C.S.O., but I like the Ozawa/B.S.O. cycle much more. It's just more musical. For me, the highlights from Ozawa are M1, M3, M7, M8 and M9. I agree that his Saito Kinen M2 is an improvement.

Ozawa's farewell concert in Boston, Mahler Ninth (2002) is a great performance. I watched both his BSO & Saito Kinen performances of the symphony live too. He had a special affinity for the music.
