OK, here's my MAIN issue with the Gamzou version: for all the 'expressionistic' smashing/bashing and accented neutron chords throughout, Gamzou sounds surprisingly prostate (or limp) in the last five to seven minutes of the finale. I find the same basic fault with Wheeler, Carpenter (less so), Barshai and Mazzetti, but the contrast is much more pronounced in the Gamzou. To me, this issue is best addressed (or rectified) in the Samale/Mazzuca version (Exton).
Samale/Mazzuca is still my preferred version outside of Cooke. It needs a bit recording though.
