For anyone interested in hearing the Abravanel/Utah Symphony Mahler set—including all of the symphonies, some of the songs, and Prohaska's earlier mono version of Des Knaben Wunderhorn—Amazon.com just placed it on sale for 99 cents. Not 99 cents per track, but 99 cents for the entire set! If you're curious about this pioneering cycle and aren't allergic to MP3s (c. 226 kbps, VBR), this is an incredible bargain.

James, Amazon's posting is a bit confusing.  Though at the top of the page it states that the entire cycle is indeed 99 cents, the links to click on below to buy the MP3's at the right side of the page seem to indicate that you buy individual movements from the symphonies and each of the individual songs from the cycles for 99 cents apiece.  I've seen many other Amazon MP3 classical downloads configured the same way, but haven't taken a chance on spending good money to get something that would be incomplete.

Have you, or has anyone else indeed downloaded the entire cycle and songs for the 99 cents as indicated?

I downloaded the entire set last night (all 92 tracks) for a total expenditure of 99¢. You can, of course, purchase certain individual tracks for 99¢ apiece, though I don't know why one would want to given the extraordinary package deal currently available.

Great find, Wade! I remember downloading the Gielen cycle a couple of years ago from Amazon for $15.00. They do this every now and then. I always wonder if it's an error. I have much of Abravanel's Mahler on DVD-A. I'm missing 1, 7, 8 & 9. For $0.99, I guess I can download the rest.

When I first saw this thread a few weeks ago I went to Amazon's site and it looked like it was 99 cents per track, which would have come to $92 bucks.  A bit much for this cycle.

But then last friday I got an email from Amazon (seems like they're watching my activity) explicitly offering the entire cycle for 99 cents.  So I followed the link and downloaded the whole cycle.  Took a couple of hours.
